About the job

A Content Contributor is expected to assist in content creation and content improvement in the contributor’s specialized field. He/she reports to the Content Manager. The Content Contributor works on an assignment that he/she agrees to work on with their Content Manager. A Moderator is assigned to each Content Contributor who checks their solutions for quality. A Content Contributor has to be fluent in both Portuguese and English language.

Responsibilities/Duties

-Creating Quality Content: Writing step-by-step solutions for one or more of the following subject areas in the contributor’s specialized field.

- Upper-level Mathematics (Abstract Algebra, Advanced Mathematics, Analysis, Business Math, Calculus, College Algebra, Complex Variables, Differential Equations, Discrete Math, Finite Math, Linear Algebra, Probability, and Statistics)

- High-school Mathematics (Algebra, Algebra 2, Calculus, Geometry, Integrated Math, Pre-Algebra, Precalculus, and Trigonometry)

- Science (Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Oceanography, Organic Chemistry, Physical Science, and Physics)

- Social Sciences Anthropology, European History, Geography, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, US Government, US History, and World History)

- Literature and English (Literature, Novel, Short Story, and Vocabulary)

- Foreign Languages (Spanish and other languages)

- Accounting, Business Management, and Economics

- Premed/Medicine (Anatomy and Physiology, Nursing, and Health)

- Law

-Utilizing KaTeX coding to properly format solutions that require equations and diagrams.

-Answering questions from users regarding their assigned solutions when they need clarifications or further explanations.

-Improving Content by reporting low-rated, poorly written, and inaccurate/incorrect solutions to the attention of the Moderator and Content Manager for review.

-Discussing any problems or issues that he or she encounters with the Content Manager such as site bugs, empty solutions, and content that violates copyright guidelines (e.g. stolen or copied material), payment issues, and assignment concerns.

Qualifications

- Has earned an academic degree, certification, or work experience in any of the subject areas mentioned above

- Has knowledge about KaTeX coding

- Has strong research skills

- Adaptable to changes

Work Hours

Content Contributors have a flexible working arrangement but they are expected to work at least 60 hours a month. More importantly, this job is seasonal work that depends on the company’s needs and demands, so the working hours of the Content Contributor may be adjusted accordingly (i.e., increased or reduced).

Pay Rate

An Content Contributor is paid on an hourly basis. The pay rate is determined based on the following factors: level of education, competencies/skills, specialized field/subject area he/she chooses to work on, quality and speed of contribution, and the cost of living in his/her location. Please be advised that any time required to learn a new concept or software in order to complete assigned exercises will not be compensated. As we value your professional growth and development, we encourage you to take the necessary time to learn and improve your skills on your own schedule.

Testing Phase

Prior to recruitment, there will be an assessment to evaluate whether you are a good fit for content creation and development. The hiring Content Manager will explain what happens during the testing phase and how you are going to be evaluated/assessed.

Probationary Period

Once you pass the testing phase successfully, you are hired provisionally. During the first two months/60 days, you are placed under probation with extra supervision and training, which means that your work is combed through to ensure its quality and efficiency.
